Here’s the cam position sensor on the front timing cover of a. All of that was sold as a kit by GM-the TBI/Vortec intake manifold, the exhaust manifold with the tube to transfer exhaust gas to the EGR valve, etc. Throttle body wiring conversion for 8-pin to 6-pin applications. Is their any way to get EGR into the non EGR vortec manifold? I'm thinking an old Ford 4bbl EGR spacer that used an external EGR with a pipe to the exhaust manifold, then use the Ford EGR as the TBI is vac operated as the old Ford is. Theres no exhaust crossover with the Vortec heads so exhaust gas has to be pulled from one of the exhaust manifolds using a long metal tube to the intake manifold/EGR valve. An Edelbrock performer Vortec or Summit version with a TBI adapter will work just fine, except the EGR. My issue, is the cheapest I can get the TBI-vortec intake is 10% discount off of $369 using Summit's price match against Jegs. I'm considering getting a set of rebuilt 305 Vortec heads for $200 ea, The TBI- Vortec intake manifold and welding a bung into the header collector for the EGR. So heads really have to come off anyway tho the headers seal for now. It was run with no exhaust on the passanger side for a few weeks and I know that was hard on it, and then it was parked which should not have done anything but it runs worse now.Ĥ bolts ( all end bolts ) broke in the heads when the headers ( bolt up replacement shorty headers ) were put on when the exhaust was repaired ( stock exhaust except headers ). brakes feel weird so I think there is a vac issue/ valves. stop the engine and inspect the raw water intake, sea cock and sea strainer (if equipped) and hoses for blockage or prob- Indmar Marine Engines. Generally, shifting motor downward and/or rearward improves handling.Pretty sure my truck now has a couple burned valves cause it runs pretty bad. FWIW, most Circle Track rules define a minimum measurement from damper bolt to track a non-issue on street so long as pan won't rub the pavement. This may also permit lowering motor a bit & that'll improve handling (Lowered CoG). as well as a properly-centered RR pickup. 6 3/4" - 7 1/4" is doable and while some cheap CT pans do have both R & L kickouts, they'll also require another door or two & hinges tacked in. >On another note, for street cars that seldom see a strip but do see lots of spirited Right & Left turns & hard accel-decel instead of an 8" pan of any sort, I suggest a shallow Road Race pan having both R & L extensions aka kickouts aka wings. * run a bypass hose as mentioned above in post #1.įWIW, some non-vortec pumps have a large port with pipe threads located in top of pump housing some do, some don't. * run a TEE line between intake & water pump's heater hose nipple. * drill one, two or three holes about 1/8" through the t'stat's flange. >Most successfully plumbed-cooled street motors w/ vortecs do one or more of the following: >Most sbc RACE cars I've dealt with (vortec or not) do Not have a t'stat at all but do have a restrictor (think of a large dia flat washer) in lieu of t'stat. Keep in mind most production 元1 & 元0 blocks' decks & wp mounts are Not drilled for a bypass as are earlier motors. The intake has an internal bypass with a molded-in valve seat that's serviced with that t'stat which has a separate valve plate attached at Bottom of t'stat. >FWIW, OE production vortec 元1 & 元0 have a distinctive intake manifold & t'stat combo. I'd be interested to learn how G72Zed's 602 RACE customers address the "vortec bypass" matter. Vortec race cars & Vortec street cars have different cooling systems & needs most race cars don't need a t'stat while most street cars do.
